Overview
The Planning Division ensures that the long-range land use planning for the Township follows the defined goals of the community through review of all development activity. It provides professional administrative staff to the Planning Commission, Zoning Board of Appeals and Design Review Board. Administrative duties include preparation of agendas, coordination of reviews and public notification. Additional staff duties are site development inspection, review of construction permits for zoning ordinance compliance, site plan review, design and sign review and processing of all rezoning and lot split requests.

The Deputy Director manages the processing of appeals to the ZBA, site plan and design reviews to the Design Review Board and Planning Commission, applications to the Wetlands Board; meets with property owners, developers and architects to review zoning, land use and development proposals in compliance with Township’s ordinances and policies; and reviews construction documents for compliance with Township Board approvals for permit issuance.

The Assistant Planner provides information and assistance to the public on planning-related matters regarding zoning, land use, and current projects; and assists the Planning, Building & Ordinance Director in accepting and processing applications to the Design Review Board, Planning Commission, and Zoning Board of Appeals.
