Transparency is nothing new to the Bloomfield Township Police Department, nor is it something defined merely by our policies or the law. Rather, it is ingrained in our department’s culture, an understanding that we are answerable to the public. At the same time, transparency is a natural result when a government agency is already following best practices and holding its employees to high standards. It is in this spirit that we post the policies of the Bloomfield Township Police Department.

Annual Reviews

Each year our Department does a meaningful review of every single use of force incident, and every single pursuit incident. We analyze all of the circumstances surrounding each incident and we look for trends or areas of concern. Our policies and our training are also guided in part by what we learn in these reviews.
