Extra Eyes Camera Registry Program
Bloomfield Township consistently is rated as one of the safest communities in the State of Michigan. The Police Department is now starting an “Extra Eyes” camera registry program. The Extra Eyes program will help the Police Department locate possible video evidence after a crime is committed to aid in the apprehension and prosecution of criminals.
The Police Department is asking residents and businesses with video surveillance systems (i.e. exterior cameras, video doorbells, or other recording devices) to voluntarily register their systems with the Police Department.
If an incident occurs at or near your residence or business, the Police Department may contact you, and ask you to review your video system to see if there is any possible evidence. The Police Department will NOT have direct access to your system. Participation in this program is voluntary.
Video surveillance is one of the best methods for apprehending and prosecuting criminals. Locally, several significant incidents have been solved and successfully prosecuted due to video surveillance footage. If you are interested in participating in the partnership, please fill out the registration form. To properly complete the registration process please download and complete the form and email to Community Relations Officer. Completed form can also be dropped off at the Police Department 24 hours a day.
For more information contact Officer Heather Glowacz at 248-433-7724 or send an email.
eCommerce Safe Exchange Zone
The Bloomfield Township Police Department parking lot is an e-commerce safe exchange zone, monitored by security cameras 24 hours a day, seven days a week. The Police Department lobby can also be used as a safe exchange zone. It is staffed by officers and open 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
Operation Medicine Cabinet
Residents may safely drop off unused prescription drugs 24 hours a day, seven days a week, in the Police Department lobby at the front desk. Only prescription drugs may be dropped off; no vitamins, supplements, needles or Epi-pens are permitted.
K-9 Demonstrations
Officers Box and Carlson, with their K-9 partners Havoc and Vince, respectively, are the Police Department’s own K-9 unit. As a team they search buildings, track suspects, and respond to narcotics and explosive calls. Havoc is trained as an “explosive detection dog” and Vince is trained as a "narcotics detection dog". Officers Box and Carlson, along with their dogs, are available for demonstrations for special events, Brownie, Cub Scout, Girl Scout or Boy Scout activities. To arrange for a K-9 demonstration, telephone Ofc. Heather Glowacz, 248-433-7724.
Premise Surveys
Bloomfield Township residents and business owners are encouraged to request a Premise Survey to determine the security of their home or business establishment. An experienced detective will perform an in-depth site examination to identify deficiencies or security risks, and provide practical suggestions to minimize criminal opportunity at the home or place of business. Surveys are usually conducted during normal business hours. We will, however, do our best to accommodate your schedule. To make an appointment for a Premise Survey, contact Community Relations Officer Heather Glowacz at 248-433-7724.
Speakers and Police Station Tours
The Police Department would appreciate the opportunity to give your civic group a tour of our station. Even large groups can be accommodated. In addition, officers are available to speak at community meetings. To arrange for a tour or a speaker, call 248-433-7724.
