2025 Construction Projects

South Bloomfield Highlands Water Main Project

The water system that serves the South Bloomfield Highlands Subdivision is a private well system installed in the 1920’s which has reached the end of its useful life. As part of a Special Assessment District (SAD) majority approved by the South Bloomfield Highlands Residents, the existing water main distribution system in the South Bloomfield Highlands Subdivision is being replaced. The scope of work includes replacing the existing well system with approximately 14,600 feet of 8-inch diameter water main, replacing hydrants and gate valves, new 1” water service line to the property line, and new stop boxes at each address, and abandoning the existing water main and well system. The new system will be tied over to the existing municipal water supply, which will eliminate the need for replacement and long-term maintenance of the existing private well system. Substantial completion of the project is October 31, 2025. Final completion in which the existing water system and wells have been abandoned, and all project clean-up and punch-list items are completed by April 30, 2026.

The rehabilitation includes approximately 1,400 cubic yards of sediment dredging, within two (2) basins and 1.85 acres of invasive species treatment and removal within four (4) basins. Additionally, there will be roughly 15,000 square yards of wetland, detention basin, turf grass, and woodland edge seed mix restoration throughout all five (5) basins. Work will be performed through the spring with final removal of invasive species taking place in the fall.
