Bloomfield Community Television (BCTV), Bloomfield Township’s community access television station, is trying something new with its studio space: a three-day theatrical event produced by a resident. The studio will host three performances of comedian Ziggy Klett’s one-man show 47 Chairs, running November 16 – 18th. The show will be broadcast on Bloomfield Community Television,* Birmingham Area Public Access,** and available on BCTV’s YouTube page.
47 Chairs is a deeply, personal confessional, according to Klett. It covers a tale of early love, recently getting married and how he discovered stand-up comedy. He adds, “in 16 years I have done a ton of shows in a ton of places, mostly Ohio. I started writing 47 Chairs because I wanted to escape the tyranny of the punchline and became determined to create, produce and perform my own thing.”
“Ziggy’s show is exactly the kind of programming I’d like to do more of in our studio,” said Carrie LeZotte, Bloomfield Township’s Director of Cable and Community Relations. “There was a time when the studio was buzzing with activity from community producers, but it’s waned with more prosumer production. There’s a special synergy that happens with crew and talent in a production environment and we’re looking to create more of that here in our studio again.”
