On Monday, October 28, 2024, Township Director of Cable and Community Relations, Carrie LeZotte, participated in the latest Board of Trustees Meeting to seek a proclamation that allowed the Township to recognize October 20 as Community Media Day. During her presentation, LeZotte stated, “Storytelling is the heart of our community. It is a great privilege to do this work and a great responsibility.”
The approved proclamation was followed by a ceremony, with outstanding community partners and producers being bestowed the inaugural Heart of the Community Awards:
· Dr. Niru Prasad, host of Health Talk, was honored as Community Producer of the Year.
· Bloomfield Township Public Library Director Tera Moon accepted the Community Partner of the Year Award, on behalf of the library.
· Maggie Barclay, Fitness Coordinator, Bloomfield Township Senior Services was honored as Employee Partner of the Year.
· Township Cable Operations Manager, Steve Rota, was honored for his 25+ years of service to the department and community.
Dr. Prasad, who has produced programs with BCTV for over twenty years, stated, “This award means a lot to me. With my background in pediatric and emergency medicine, I’ve cumulated lots of experiences about how to raise a healthy child, as well as emphasizing health education for adolescents, adults, and senior citizens and keeping them drug-free.”
She also added, “I have had a wonderful experience working at our TV station, which is like my second home. I am very grateful and privileged to have Carrie LeZotte and Steve Rota for always being my moral support, and also to each and all of the staff members at Bloomfield TV station for their help in preparing health talk videos.”
