The Charter Township of Bloomfield is home to 44,000 people. Its 26 square miles are distinguished by rolling hills, winding roads, and scenic lakes and streams. Located in Oakland County, Michigan, Bloomfield Township is within easy reach of the area’s major thoroughfares and expressways. It provides a full range of public services, including its own police and full-time fire departments and road, water and sewer divisions.

Because 95% of the Township is residential there is a special emphasis on the needs of homeowners, but Bloomfield Township’s business community is thriving and growing. Vibrant businesses including shops and restaurants can be found in the Township, particularly along the Telegraph and Woodward Avenue corridors.

Four public school systems - primarily Bloomfield Hills and Birmingham, and also Avondale and Pontiac - serve residents of the Township, as well as several excellent private and parochial schools. Find links to information about schools here.

House on a LakeBloomfield Township, through Bloomfield Community Television, provides Community Access programming on Comcast cable channel 15 for residents of Bloomfield Township and Bloomfield Hills. BCTV now produces more than 600 programs a year. Many of the programs are in a series format and produced in the studio by local residents. The others are produced by local non-profit organizations and document events taking place in and around the community. Bloomfield Township Board of Trustees meetings are aired live on BCTV. Voter Registration

The Clerk’s Office is responsible for voter registration and for all local, state and federal elections. Register to vote during normal office hours. The Clerk’s Office also offers complete, convenient passport service.

Clerk ServicesDog Licenses

No more than two dogs, six months or older, are allowed to be kept on any property in Bloomfield Township. The State of Michigan law requires each dog to be vaccinated for rabies and to be licensed by the age of six months. You must present proof of current rabies vaccination to purchase the license.

Oakland County Animal Control provides service to Bloomfield Township. Their services, hours of operation and applicable fees can be obtained by going to their website or by calling 248-858-1070.

  • At the Oakland County Animal Control Center, 1200 N. Telegraph Road, Bldg. 42 E, Pontiac, MI 48341

Library

The Bloomfield Township Public Library is located at 1099 Lone Pine Road, on the corner of Lone Pine and Telegraph. Visit the Library website here.

The Township boasts a beautiful Senior Center, incorporating a warm water pool and state-of-the-art fitness facility, and offering many enrichment programs, classes and travel opportunities for residents 50 years and older. Johnson Nature Center

A beautifully natural, forty-acre site featuring a scenic, four-acre, inland pond, approximately 2.0 miles of nature trails, a Visitor Center, a historic log cabin, and plenty of wildlife. Find hours and events calendar on the Johnson Nature Center website.

Bowers School Farm

Housed on 93 acres and owned by Bloomfield Hills Schools since 1967.  Animals such as sheep, horses, cattle, and goats graze the pastures. Bloomfield Township sends out weekly email newsletters that contain information and links on area happenings. ENewsletters are also sent whenever there is an immediate need to relay a message to residents, such as notice of a snow emergency.
