This September, and every September, is Passport Awareness Month. Appointments for passport services with the Clerk’s Office are currently booked through the end of the month and will be put on hold until AFTER the 2024 Presidential Election.

Township residents that need to apply for a new passport or renew their current one can find available locations via Passport Facility Search Site.   

More importantly, the City of Detroit is hosting an event on Saturday, September 28, 2024. This is the perfect opportunity to renew your passport or apply for your first one from 8:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at the Detroit Passport Agency:

A few reminders:  

·         Routine Service Only

·         Same Day Passports Not Available

·         Proof of travel not required

·         Appointments are required

 

Request appointments for Passport Day by calling at 1-877-487-2778 (You must mention “Passport Month Saturday Appointment”).

 

Complete your application online at US Department of State

 

Print your forms and bring the following to your appointment:

 

·         Your completed, unsigned application

·         Your U.S. Citizenship Evidence (certified birth certificate, etc.)

·         Valid photo ID

·         An acceptable passport photo (2x2)

·         Passport fees

 

Per Township Deputy Clerk Deana Mondock, “if you are planning to travel during the holidays, check the validity of your passport (most countries require at least 6 months validity). And, if you need to apply for a passport, be sure to apply as early as possible – passport processing times will increase as demand increases.”
