Since early in-person voting starts October 26 at the Township Library and Election Day is just around the corner, here are a few reminders about rules and etiquette when casting your ballot at a polling place.
Campaigning inside the polling place or anywhere within 100 feet of a polling place entrance is against the law. This includes wearing shirts, hats or any apparel that promote OR disparage a candidate or proposal currently on the ballot. Additionally, no one is permitted to post, display, distribute, or leave materials inside the polling place or within 100 feet of the entrance to a polling place that directly or indirectly references a current candidate or ballot proposal.
Please vote! And while doing so please be cordial, be respectful, be a good citizen.
You can review the law as written at Michigan Compiled Laws.
If you have any questions, please contact the Clerk’s Office at 248-433-7702 or Clerk Email. You can also visit the Michigan Voter Information Center for additional resources.
