Summer is in full swing and the Ordinance Division wants to make sure residents avoid two of the season’s most common violations.  The Open Storage Ordinance, Chapter 42, Article 5.0, prohibits storing these man-made items in public view. It also prohibits the storage of campers, trailers, boats, RV’s, snow mobiles, jet skis, etc. Exemptions to this ordinance include the storage of operable and legally licensed passenger vehicles (parked only on a designated driveway). It also exempts neatly stacked firewood and patio furniture, which are common and acceptable outdoor items. Take the time to look around your property and remove clutter and items that are no longer in use. This would include salt buckets, empty plant pots, snow shovels, wheel barrows, tools, etc.

Per the Township Noxious Weed Ordinance, Chapter 14, Article IV, in March of each year a Notice is published in our local newspaper giving warning to residents that if the grass on any property reaches a height of eight inches, the Ordinance Division may authorize the grass to be cut.  All related fees for this action will be placed against the property tax roll.  Residents can assist the Ordinance Division by alerting them of homes that may need attention via phone, email, or the new app.

Bloomfield Township strives to maintain a standard above all others. Keeping clutter out of sight and maintaining your lawn are key components in keeping the high property values across the community. Contact the Ordinance Division with any questions related to storage and lawn care.
