BTFD reminds you to be careful with your holiday decorations. Make sure they do not block windows and doors. Additionally, here are a few more safety tips:
If you have a live tree, make sure to water it every day since a dry tree is a fire hazard. Additionally, be aware of the surroundings all trees. One in every four winter fires is caused by a tree being placed too close to a heat source.
When it comes to lights, follow the manufacturer’s instructions carefully. Some lights are only for indoor or outdoor use, but not both. Check all lights for worn or broken cords, as well as loose bulb connections. Replace accordingly.
More than 1/3 of home decoration fires are caused by candles. Keep lit candles away from decorations and anything that can burn. Consider using flameless candles since they are just as decorative and much safer than real candles.
Before leaving a room or going to bed, make sure to blow out lit candles and turn off all light strings and decorations.
