Since opening in 2009, the Senior Center has been a hub of activity for residents aged 50 and older. Senior Services marked the fifteenth anniversary recently by dedicating a bench in honor of longtime volunteer leader Stephen Eskoff and hosting a sold-out celebratory luncheon. While the anniversary reflected on the road traveled to success, Director Christine Tvaroha keeps an eye to the future thinking about how to ensure the department serves the community another fifteen years – to 2039 and beyond.

“This August marks 20 years since voters approved the millage for Senior Services and started the transition from the school district to the Township,” said Tvaroha. “In the past 15 years we have had the honor of serving over 10,000 people with our mission of promoting wellness, community, independence, and vital living.”

Already one of the most mature communities in the county, data from the Southeastern Michigan Council of Governments (SEMCOG) predicts the township’s senior population will continue to grow in its 2050 Forecast. Senior Services supports residents’ goals of aging in place with assistance programs and activities designed for social, mental, and physical health. “We are so grateful to everyone in the community who has contributed to building Senior Services in Bloomfield Township!” added Tvaroha. “We look forward to the next 15 years!”
