New Year, New Furniture, New Appliances? What to do with that chair, sofa or refrigerator that you are replacing?
First off, furniture is not recyclable, but is reusable. There are options to donate the furniture for another person or family to enjoy. The Salvation Army, Habitat for Humanity, ReStore, and Goodwill all have locations in the Bloomfield Township area and accept furniture with some limitations. There are local charities that will pick-up furniture at your home. We recommend calling ahead to make sure they will accept what you have and to learn their guidelines.
Planning to get a new refrigerator or freezer? You could earn $$$! DTE offers a recycling program with a $50 gift card for qualifying items. You can read more at DTE Refrigerator Recycling.
If donation is not an option, large items (both furniture and appliances) are collected on a weekly basis. They must be out at the curb by 7:00 AM on your collection day. This service is part of the trash program.
For collection of Freon containing appliances (refrigerator, freezer or air conditioner), please notify Priority Waste the day before pick-up. Refrigerator and freezer doors must be removed. A separate truck collects these appliances for removal of the Freon. This service is part of the trash program.
You can read more at Large Item Collection. Please contact Priority Waste via Email or 855-927-8365 if you have any questions.
