On Tuesday May 23rd, Bloomfield Community Television (BCTV) won a Silver Award in the category of Non-Broadcast Production- General Education & Training for the video “Felony Arrest with Bloomfield Township Police Department” as part of the 44th Annual Telly Awards. Established in 1979, The Telly Awards are dedicated to honoring excellence in local, regional and cable television commercials, along with non-broadcast video and television programming. BCTV’s win is the latest honor from The Telly Awards, with awards going back as far as 2013.
The four-minute video that was produced gives viewers an up-close look at officers working a midnight shift, as they respond to reports of a suspect being spotted. We watch as they coordinate and detain the individual on the roadside, with narration from the officers that shares their expertise in making the felony arrest. This particular award-winning title is part of a recent series of videos created to attract viable candidates to a slate of open positions. Having been successful in finding new officers for duty, this series is now reaping more recognition.
At the Trustee meeting on May 8th, BTPD created a special award in appreciation for the support and partnership with BCTV.
“The idea for the felony arrest video came from spending time with the police recruiting team. In all my background research, I didn’t see anything quite like what we were able to execute and the organic views on YouTube showed us that it is something people are interested in watching. More importantly, the videos we created are helping find the right candidates to join BTPD,” said Carrie LeZotte, Director of Cable and Community Relations, who also directed the video.
