On March 21, 2023 at approximately 4:15am, Bloomfield Township Police were dispatched to the 5000 block of Woodlands Estates Drive on reports of an attempted Larceny from Automobile. An astute passerby witnessed Gene Raymond Arnold approach a white Jeep Cherokee and reach for the driver side door handle. Before Arnold could open the Jeep, the passerby shined a light on Arnold and he immediately fled.
Officers quickly responded to the area and attempted to locate Arnold to speak with him on this suspicious circumstance and to identify if any other crimes had been committed. Officers located Arnold walking eastbound on Lone Pine Road near Deep Wood Road. They immediately ordered Arnold to stop. Arnold refused to comply and began running southbound on Deepwood Road and eventually into the wooded area behind a residence. Officers again identified themselves, and ordered Arnold to stop. Arnold refused all of the officers’ commands and continued running. Officers eventually caught up to Arnold and were able to take him into custody.
Arnold has a long list of felonies on his record dating back to 1983 and was out on bond from the 47th District Court for Receiving and Concealing Stolen Property: Motor Vehicle.
On March 22, 2023 Arnold was arraigned at the 48th District Court charged with Obstruction and Resisting. Arnold was issued a $10,000 cash bond.
When Arnold was arrested police discovered a few pieces of unique property. The Bloomfield Township Police Department is asking anyone in this area that may have been a victim, or had their vehicle rummaged through in the overnight hours of March 20th into March 21st contact Detective Huizdos at 248-433-7763.
