The history of Bloomfield Township as told by author Kay Smith's book "Bloomfield Blossoms: Glimpses into the History of Bloomfield Township" is now available online. Each page and image of the 150-page book can be viewed through the Michigan State University Libraries website. Every name and place mentioned in the book are searchable through this site. The digitized text was made possible by the township with permission from the author thanks to indexing done by the Bloomfield Township Public Library through a project called the Making of Modern Michigan. The web link will take you to the Making of Modern Michigan website. At that point you can either type in Bloomfield Blossoms for the entire book or search individual names, dates and places for a more targeted search.
Township Records
The link below will take you to several old Board of Trustees minutes books dating back to the first Board meeting on May 25, 1827. The first two books, 1827-1874 and 1875-1907 have been microfilmed and digitized by the OCLC Preservation Service Center in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania. If you take time to view the pages you will note that the minutes were recorded by hand in very fancy calligraphy and albeit attractive, somewhat difficult to read. Unfortunately we cannot make the original books available because they are very fragile. We have also added scanned images from 1907-1917, 1923-1928.

Per the minutes of that meeting, the first Township officers chosen by ballot include the following:

Assessors | John Todd Joseph Park Abram Crawford |
Commissioners of Highways |
John Ellenwood John W. Hunter William Lee |
