Water Meter replacement Program

Bloomfield Township has initiated a Township-wide mandatory water meter changeout program and has contracted SLC to perform this service at no direct cost to the customers. The Township is implementing this program due to the age and accuracy of the existing water meters. We’ve selected the latest leading-edge technology to exceed customer expectations for the long-term. We will be replacing the older Neptune meters with Badger meters that will wirelessly deliver usage information and alerts via cellular towers multiple times a day. As a result, Township staff will no longer need to drive to customer premises for meter reading.

Monitor Your Water Usage

Another great feature of the new water meters is that the residents will have access to their water usage via the Eye On Water App. In about 2 weeks after the new Badger Meter is installed, residents will be able create on Eye On Water account to track their usage and receive real-time leak alerts. This allows residents to have more control over their water use by catching any unknown leaks sooner. Scheduling Water Meter Replacement

The following information is important for you to understand in advance of our visit to your home or business:

  • SLC will send out notices when they are in your area. Once you receive this notice, please follow the directions to schedule your appointment asap.
  • If there is no response to the first notice, we will post a 2nd notice then a third and final notice as a reminder to schedule an appointment to avoid interruption of service.
  • The replacement of these water meters will require inside access to your residence or business.
  • Please ensure that the meter is accessible and that all boxes, furniture, or other items obstructing the meter are moved prior to your appointment.
  • An adult who is over the age of 18 years old must be present at all water meter replacement appointments, which will take about 30 to 60 minutes, depending on the complexity of the installation.
