Birmingham Police Chief Addresses Traffic Noise Complaints

Traffic noise along the Woodward Corridor is an ongoing challenge for all the communities who patrol the area. Police departments are working together to address the issue, including working with state legislators to re-write the law. Birmingham Police Chief Mark Clemence shares the specific criteria that must occur for an officer to write a noise violation.

Bloomfield Township Police Chief James Gallagher has stated that in the future, he hopes to add four officers to a traffic unit. This unit would be dedicated support to target areas where there are high rates of accidents, dangerous driving, and noise violations, including the Woodward Corridor.
