Citizens' Police academy

The Bloomfield Township Police Department is proud to announce it will be running another Citizens’ Academy beginning Tuesday, June 25, 2019 and concluding on Tuesday, July 23, 2019.  The academy will be meeting every Tuesday night from 6 pm to (approximately) 9 pm.

Each night during the academy students will learn about a different aspect about law enforcement. Some of these topics include:

  • Police Patrol
  • Radio communications and Dispatch Operations
  • Use of the K-9
  • Traffic Crash Investigation
  • Crime Scene forensics
  • Equipment police officers use to do their job and stay safe
  • Students will receive AED & CPR training from Bloomfield Township Fire Department

The Citizens’ Academy is open to any Bloomfield Township resident over the age of 18. Non-residents may be allowed to participate on a case by case basis, but Bloomfield Township residents will have priority. Our former Citizens’ Academy students are also welcome to attend again as we try to change the content of each of our academies. A brief criminal history check will be run on each applicant. However, most minor offenses will not preclude participation.

To participate in the Academy, please fill out the application below.
